A bit of History

Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, Georgia, is a 330-acre family-owned farm that’s been in operation for five generations. The farm is passionate about providing families with quality, homegrown fruits and vegetables, and a memorable farm experience.

The Carter Family has been farming in Henry County, GA for eight generations, with five generations on the same farm. Initially a dairy operation, the farm transitioned to a beef cattle, hay, and peach farm in 1986, with plans for educational and agritourism development.

In 2005, Jake Carter joined the family business, and they began hosting events and educational field trips. Over time, Southern Belle Farm added a Farm Market/Bakery, selling farm produce including peaches (that we are going to pick!) and using them in bakery products and ice cream.

The farm now welcomes over 30,000 school children annually.

The family aims to share their blessings and agricultural knowledge with visitors in a wholesome, safe environment while being good stewards of the land.

A bit of History

Southern Grace Farms is a family-owned farm in Enigma, Georgia. They have been traditional row crop farmers since their Scottish ancestors came to America in 1774, and continue to grow traditional south Georgia crops such as corn, cotton, wheat, peanuts, and rye.

In 1998, they grew their first fields of U-Pick strawberries and blackberries, and later added peaches, nectarines, blueberries, plums, grapes, and sunflowers to their U-Pick/We Pick fields.

They now have a seasonal country store that displays their value-added products, gift baskets, and Georgia Grown specialty and gourmet items.

The farm is co-owned and operated by brothers Steve and Tim McMillan, and Steve’s daughter Jennifer also helps run the U-Pick fields and the peanut buying point.

All of the children grew up working on the farm, and Steve’s son Stephen and Tim’s son Daniel have now graduated college and come back to help run the farm.

We have to mention the Christmas lights display during the holiday season. The festive light display, which covers about two acres and has a walking trail. It’s a great event for family to visit during Christmas!

The farm also has a petting zoo, featuring chickens, bunnies, baby piglets, donkeys, goats, and ducks, as well as a farm store that serves hot chocolate and smores kits that can be roasted at the available fire pit. The farm store also known for its delicious ice cream!

Jaemor Farms

Although they allow peach hand picking on their u pick peach day only (usually in early August), that’s why we leave this to the last on list!

We still would like to recommend this farm because it produces 33 different varieties and cultivating fresh peaches for over 100 years on 150 acres of land, With their extensive experience, they know exactly what to look for in a great peach harvest.

On top of it, they offer a warm and inviting atmosphere to visitors. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always ready to help and enhance the overall experience. 

Please check their website down below to see details before you plan for your u pick trip! Usually it’s happening in early August. In early August, you would be able to pick and enjoy several Peach varieties in the farm, including Georgia Belle, Sun Prince, Cresthaven, Elberta, Jersey Queen, August Prince, O’Henry, and White Rose. These peaches can be eaten fresh, baked, or frozen, while some are also suitable for pickling or canning.

The Echols family has been growing peaches in the tri-county area of Hall, Banks, and Habersham Counties in Lula, Georgia since 1912, beginning as a small family farm. The farm was recognized as a Centennial Farm in 2012, and has been passed down through six generations. Originally known as Echols Orchards, the family later renamed it to J.A.E.M.O.R. Farms in honor of the third generation owners, Jimmy Allen Echols and Valvoreth Morrison Echols.

Since 1981, Jaemor Farms has grown and diversified to meet the demands of its customers. In addition to peaches and apples, visitors can now enjoy a variety of homegrown fruits and vegetables like strawberries, blackberries, muscadines, and pumpkins during the harvest season. Jaemor Farms has also expanded into agritourism, offering a corn maze and welcoming over a million customers annually.   • Dickey Farm – they do not offer you pick experience. They currently only have a u-pick program for strawberries. They will have their harvested peaches in the market.
